The All Out Safaris Perspective
Safari, Sea and Wine is about experiencing the contrast between Africa's wild places and the character of the Cape. From the stillness of the bush to the Atlantic coastline and the vineyard-covered valleys, each destination brings a different rhythm to the journey.
For us, the important part is choosing the right safari first. There is no single destination that belongs to this journey. The safari should be the one that fits you, before Cape Town and the Winelands become the next chapters of the story.
Then we shape the Cape around the way you travel. Time exploring the coastline, mornings in the city, afternoons among the vineyards and evenings spent over good food and wine. The journey should feel like one considered experience, with enough time to enjoy each destination properly.
Questions about this safari
Can I choose any safari destination?
Yes. Safari, Sea and Wine can be built around any safari destination in our portfolio across Africa. We will recommend the destination and lodge based on the wildlife, landscape, season and type of safari you want before connecting it with Cape Town and the Winelands.
Which safari lodge will I stay at?
Your safari lodge will depend entirely on the destination you choose. We will select from our relevant lodge portfolio for that destination rather than limiting you to a fixed property.
Which Cape Town accommodation should I choose?
That depends on how you want your Cape Town stay to feel. Tintswalo Atlantic is particularly suited to romance and seclusion, while Tintswalo Boulders is ideal for exploring the beach (for the penguins) and Cape Peninsula. POD Camps Bay offers a stylish boutique atmosphere, The Marly Hotel suits travellers wanting a lively beachside stay, and The Cole Hotel is a contemporary base in Sea Point.
Which Winelands estate should I choose?
Babylonstoren is ideal for gardens and farm-to-table experiences, while Grande Provence suits travellers drawn to heritage, art, wine and dining. Lanzerac offers historic charm, full-service luxury and spa facilities; Leeu Estates appeals to those seeking refined design and understated luxury; and Webersburg is suited to travellers wanting a peaceful, intimate country-estate setting.
What wildlife can I see in Cape Town?
Cape Town has surprisingly diverse wildlife. Around the Cape Peninsula you may encounter African penguins, Cape fur seals, chacma baboons, Cape mountain zebra, bontebok, eland and red hartebeest. The surrounding waters also support dolphins and several whale species, including southern right whales, humpback whales and Bryde's whales. Southern right whales are most commonly seen between June and November.
Can I see African penguins?
Yes. Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town is home to a colony of African penguins and is one of the best-known wildlife experiences on the Cape Peninsula.
Can I see whales in Cape Town?
Whales can be seen in the waters around the Cape, with southern right whales being the most commonly encountered species during their seasonal visit from around June to November. Humpback and Bryde’s whales may also be seen, depending on the season and conditions.
Is Safari, Sea and Wine suitable for families?
Yes. We can choose a safari destination and lodge that works for your family, then select Cape Town accommodation, Winelands estates and experiences around the ages of your children and the way your family likes to travel.
Can I make the journey private?
Yes. The journey can be designed as a private, bespoke itinerary, with your safari, accommodation, transfers and experiences arranged around your group. Please note this comes at an extra cost with the accommodations and relevant third-party suppliers.
Can I combine more than one safari destination with the Cape?
Yes. For longer journeys, we can combine two or more safari destinations before continuing to Cape Town and the Winelands. The combination will depend on how much time you have, the flight connections and the experiences you want to include.
What is the best time to do Safari, Sea and Wine?
There is no single best time. Your ideal travel dates will depend on the safari destination you choose as well as what you want to experience in Cape Town and the Winelands. September to November brings spring flowers and fresh green vineyards, while March and April are particularly rewarding for harvest season and autumn colours. We consider all three destinations when recommending when to travel.
