Why You'll Love This Safari
The Zambezi River

The river is the heart of Lower Zambezi, shaping the landscape and drawing wildlife towards its banks and islands. It gives the safari a rhythm that feels completely different from a traditional game-drive destination.
The Enchanted Wilderness

There is something almost otherworldly about the Lower Zambezi in the early hours. Mist hangs between the trees, soft light filters through the winterthorns and the river moves quietly through the landscape. As the day unfolds, the haze lifts and the wilderness slowly reveals itself.
Safari by Canoe

Glide quietly along the river with wildlife on the banks around you. Canoeing allows you to move through smaller channels and experience the landscape without the sound and presence of a vehicle.
The Wild Beyond the River

Game drives take you away from the water into woodland and open plains, where lion, leopard, buffalo, wild dog and a wide variety of antelope can be found.
A Different Kind of Safari

Lower Zambezi gives you the freedom to change the pace of your days. One morning might be spent tracking wildlife by vehicle, another drifting down the river or fishing beneath the shade of the trees.
The Quiet of the Zambezi

There is a stillness here that is difficult to recreate elsewhere. The river moves slowly, elephants emerge from the woodland and the days seem to stretch with the landscape.
Lodges In Our Portfolio
The Enchanted Lower Zambezi is built around three carefully selected lodges, each offering a different way to experience the Zambezi wilderness. From the intimate, open-to-the-elements character of Old Mondoro to the refined riverfront setting of Dulini Anabezi and the contemporary elegance of Lolebezi, each gives you a different perspective on life along the river.

The All Out Safaris Perspective
Lower Zambezi is a safari you experience with more than just your eyes.
You hear hippos grunting from the river, watch elephants wade between islands and feel the current carry you quietly past wildlife on the banks.
For us, that is what makes this place different. The Zambezi is not simply part of the landscape. It is the thread running through the entire safari, changing how you move, where wildlife gathers and how you experience the wilderness.
Questions about this safari
What wildlife can I expect to see?
Lower Zambezi is particularly known for its elephants and hippos, alongside buffalo, lion, leopard, wild dog, crocodile, waterbuck and a wide variety of other plains game and birdlife.
Is canoeing suitable for everyone?
Canoeing is generally suitable for travellers who are comfortable on the water and able to follow their guide's instructions. Conditions vary, so your camp will advise which activities are appropriate during your stay.
When is the best time to visit?
The main safari season generally runs through the dry months, when wildlife becomes increasingly concentrated around the Zambezi and other water sources. The exact experience changes with the season, however, and the greener months offer their own appeal.
Which Lower Zambezi lodge should I choose?
That depends on your travel style, budget and priorities. Dulini Anabezi suits travellers wanting refined luxury and spacious private suites with exceptional river and floodplain views. Lolebezi is ideal for those drawn to contemporary design, privacy and a more polished lodge experience. Old Mondoro is best for travellers who want a smaller, more intimate and immersive bush camp with the wilderness very much at its doorstep. If you're unsure which is right for you, we'll recommend the option that best matches your travel style and preferences.
Is Lower Zambezi good for families?
Yes. Family suitability varies between the lodges and their age policies, so we recommend choosing your camp around the ages of your children and the activities you want to include.
Can I combine Lower Zambezi with South Luangwa?
Yes. The two destinations complement each other beautifully, combining the river-based safari of Lower Zambezi with the walking and predator-focused experience of South Luangwa.
Can I combine it with Victoria Falls?
Yes. Lower Zambezi can easily form part of a wider Zambian or Southern African journey, including Victoria Falls, South Luangwa or other regional destinations.
