Why You'll Love This Safari
The Giants of Amboseli

Amboseli is famous for its elephants, including some of the largest-tusked elephants in Africa. Watching these animals move across the open plains with Kilimanjaro behind them is one of the defining experiences of this part of Kenya.
Kilimanjaro at Every Turn

The mountain is never far from the experience. On clear mornings, its snow-capped summit rises above the plains, creating one of Africa's most recognisable safari landscapes.
The Amboseli Ecosystem

Beyond the elephants, the landscape changes constantly between dusty plains, acacia woodland, seasonal wetlands and lush areas fed by underground water from Kilimanjaro. Each habitat brings its own wildlife and character.
Wildlife in the Open

The open terrain makes Amboseli particularly rewarding for photography. Elephants, giraffe, zebra and other plains game are often beautifully silhouetted against the mountain, while predators move through the same landscape.
Life Around the Water

Amboseli's wetlands are one of the most fascinating parts of the ecosystem. Fed by underground water from Kilimanjaro, these green oases draw elephants, hippos, buffalo and an abundance of birdlife into an otherwise dry landscape.
A Landscape That Feels Larger Than Life

There is something wonderfully simple about Amboseli: elephants, endless sky and a mountain rising above it all. It is a safari destination where the landscape becomes as important as the wildlife.
Lodges In Our Portfolio
The Giants of Amboseli is built around four carefully selected properties, each offering a different way to experience the Amboseli ecosystem. From the intimate private-conservancy setting of Angama Amboseli to the classic tented atmosphere of Tortilis, the relaxed character of Tawi and the more accessible Kibo, each lodge brings its own rhythm to the landscape.

Angama Amboseli
Set within a Fever Tree forest in Kimana Sanctuary, Angama Amboseli offers a distinctly contemporary take on the Amboseli experience. The lodge looks across a landscape frequented by some of Africa’s last Super Tusker elephants, with Mount Kilimanjaro dominating the horizon. With only 10 suites, private traversing rights and the freedom to explore the Sanctuary on foot or at night, it feels more secluded than a traditional Amboseli stay.

Its classic tented design, sweeping views of Kilimanjaro and combination of conservancy and park experiences make it a particularly well-rounded way to experience the area. The camp retains the character of traditional safari while offering the flexibility of both game drives and guided walks.

Lush gardens, springs and Tortilis acacias surround the lodge, creating an oasis-like setting where the emphasis is as much on slowing down as it is on safari. Its private conservancy also offers quick access to Amboseli National Park.

The All Out Safaris Perspective
Amboseli is one of those places where the landscape becomes part of the wildlife experience.
You can spend an entire morning watching elephants move across the plains, only to look up and find Kilimanjaro rising behind them. Then the light changes, the wetlands begin to shimmer and the whole landscape feels different again.
For us, that is the magic of Amboseli. It is not just about seeing elephants. It is about seeing them here, in this extraordinary landscape, with one of Africa's greatest mountains standing quietly behind them.
Questions about this safari
What wildlife can I expect to see?
Amboseli is particularly famous for elephants, but you can also see lion, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, hyena and a wide variety of birds. The park supports more than 400 bird species.
Are elephants guaranteed?
Amboseli is one of Kenya's strongest destinations for elephant viewing, with large resident herds, but wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.
Will I see Mount Kilimanjaro?
The mountain is always part of the landscape, but cloud cover can obscure the summit. Early mornings often offer the clearest opportunity to see Kilimanjaro.
What is the difference between staying inside Amboseli and in a private conservancy?
Staying inside or close to the national park gives you direct access to the classic Amboseli landscapes and wildlife. Private conservancies offer a quieter experience and, depending on the property, additional activities such as walking and night drives.
Which Amboseli lodge should I choose?
That depends on your travel style, budget and priorities. Angama Amboseli is best for couples and special occasions wanting a refined, intimate conservancy experience. Tortilis Camp suits travellers looking for a classic tented safari with walking and a strong connection to the landscape. Tawi Camp is ideal for couples and families wanting a relaxed private-conservancy stay, while Kibo Safari Camp works particularly well for families and groups wanting a comfortable and more accessible base. If you're unsure which is right for you, we'll recommend the option that best matches your travel style and preferences.
Is this safari suitable for families?
Yes. All four properties can accommodate families in different ways, although age policies and family accommodation vary. We recommend choosing the camp around the children's ages and the type of safari you want.
